Portakabin knows that if its internal customers deliver excellent service, external customer service excellence will follow ââ¬â each member of the business is able to contribute to better service. The Portakabin reputation is the 03_Why is customer service so important? Customers of a business can be new ones, or current ones returning to buy more. The significance of good customer service can be shown in financial terms, as it costs at least five times as much to win a new customer as it does to keep a current one. Much of the profits of most businesses rely on repeat custom. It costs as much to gain ONE new client as to keep FIVE existing ones direct result of a continued team effort to provide a level of service that is second to none. Market research is the collection of data that can be used to see how well a business is doing in its chosen market. This can be collected through primary research or secondary research and can be either qualitative or quantitative. â⬠¢ The clientââ¬â¢s overall impression of the service ââ¬â the courtesy and technical knowledge of Portakabin staff, value for money and whether they received ââ¬Ëpeace of mindââ¬â¢. Ups a Global Company Essays
Ups a Global Company Essays Ups a Global Company Essay Ups a Global Company Essay Introduction Companies which handle packaging services must be able to provide a variety of options to their consumers. They must be able to meet consumer demands when parcels need to be shipped and received within a designated timeframe. UPS is a global company which meets all of these needs. Describe Main Line of Business of the Company United Parcel Service started out as the American Messenger Company founded by 19 year old James Casey in Seattle, Washington back in 1907. Most deliveries were made on foot or bicycle. It wasnââ¬â¢t until 1919 that the adopted name, United Parcel Service became official. This was because ââ¬Å"Unitedâ⬠served as a reminder that every retail expansions were part of the overall organization. ââ¬Å"Parcelâ⬠was the nature of the business, and ââ¬Å"Serviceâ⬠was what the organization offered. Today, UPS, as it is now formally known since 2003 has grown to become the worldââ¬â¢s largest and leading packaging delivery service via air, ocean, ground and electronic sources to over 200 countries worldwide (UPS). Name Four Countries in which the Company Operates The home base of the United Parcel Service is Atlanta, Georgia. It was in 1975 that they first went international providing services in Toronto, Canada with an air hub now in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1976, services were offered in Germany and domestic air service began in 1989. Six European countries became the focus of international air delivery services with the United States in 1985. The first non-stop delivery service was launched between the United States and Guangzhou, China in 1985 and has since acquired interest in China, providing access to 23 cities which is more than 80% of their international trade (UPS). Implementation of Competition Ethical marketing behavior is one of the greatest assets to the competitive strategy of UPS. This is because it is used to dictate what is morally right and just. These standards drive companies that compete in the global marketplace because they affect social and economic behavior through laws and regulation which can create ethical dilemmas (Kerin, 2011). UPS uses this in order to provide services worldwide because they do not change their ethical standards even though there is a variety of languages and cultures. Another asset was the development of the UPS Logistics Group in 1995, which provides consulting services and management solutions based solely on a consumerââ¬â¢s individuals needs (UPS). Implementation of Target Market The target market for UPS are individual consumers, retail businesses, big and small businesses and any organization which needs mail or parcel deliveries to be shipped to individuals or other businesses either nationally or internationally. Implementation of Product Strategy UPS provides many options to their consumers for delivery services. They are able to set the timeframe of when their packages are to be received at their destination. Consumers are able to estimate costs, track their shipments, schedule pickups, create or cancel shipments and order UPS supplies online through the UPS website or in one of its many retail locations (UPS). It also supplies an online tool function, UPS OnLine Tools, which provides businesses the opportunity to integrate their tracking information, ratings, address validation as well as other functions to help with the businesses (Levy, 2001). Implementation of Distribution Strategy UPS promotes it service through their website, which is one of the most visited sites on the Internet with an average of 20. 7 page views a day and 8,5 million customers daily (UPS). It also provides delivery services by air, ocean, railway, motorcycles or motor vehicles. They are also available to consumers through worldwide retail outlets. Implementation of Communication Strategy UPS uses a variety of mixed media to promote their services to consumers. These include print, online and television advertising. Web sites contain product and service information, news updates as well as contact information and is user friendly (Kerin, 2011). Call center services are available to consumers and businesses, thru leasing, to provide fulfillment and shipping of their products out to their customers. UPS currently provides the back-end support to Nike. om in which they are responsible for all shipments of the Nike products out to their customers who purchased them (Levy, 2001). Implementation of Pricing Strategy The pricing strategy of UPS is based on their competition. They want to establish lower prices in order to retain returning consumers. Prices are individually based on the services needed by consumers. These would include type of transportation needed for delivery, where the package is being shipped to and the timeframe in which it needs to arrive at its destinat ion. Prices for international shipments must be calculated using the currency exchange rate and competitive pricing of the country as well as the income of consumers who live there (Ebert Griffin, 2011). Differences in Implementation: From One Country to Another UPS serves over 200 countries worldwide. Rules and regulations vary. It is important to know the legal terms and conditions, forms needed as well as restricted items for each country in order to make a shipment go through efficiently. UPS provides these items for consumers on their website for potential consumers. Not every country has the same rules so it is imperative for UPS to provide the consumer with everything they need to know to determine what they need when shipping to other countries. Conclusion Delivery services are genuinely needed by everyone. UPS provides low cost services both nationally and internationally which can boost an organizationââ¬â¢s success. They supply all the information needed for an efficient shipment. This is why they are the largest packaging delivery service today.

Has UK Anti-Discrimination Legislation Succeeded in Providing Equality Essay
Has UK Anti-Discrimination Legislation Succeeded in Providing Equality in Workplace - Essay Example 202-18). This paper discusses whether UK anti-discrimination legislation succeeded in providing equality for all in workplace or not in a concise and comprehensive way. This research is based on the premise that the implementation of the provisions of these laws on employment falls largely in the area of operation of professionals in human resources (HR). These professionals responsible for recruiting, selecting and perform other labour practices affecting the recruitment and retention of workers with and without disabilities. The purpose of this investigation has been to identify how HR professionals have responded to date to this legislation and what more can be done to support the critical role they play in minimizing discrimination against the disabled in workplaces. Sparrow (2000, pp. 202 18) mentions that workplace diversity appears to have a rather short history as a field in organisation studies if one locates its emergence only within contemporary scholarship. Issues that commonly fall within the study of workplace diversity have always existed. ... Yet, early conceptualisations of organisations were rooted in universalistic approaches that largely ignored race, ethnicity, gender, culture, sexuality, and other social identities. Race and gender in organisations gained some attention after the passage of equal employment legislation in the United States during the 1970s as well as in the UK (Sparrow, 2000, pp. 202 18). This work appeared under the rubric of women in management and in studies of the effects of affirmative action and workplace discrimination (Sisson, 1994, pp. 123-131). Substantive attention to workplace diversity in organisations is attributed primarily to the publication of Workforce 2000. This report forecasted a radical increase in the number of women and racial/ethnic minorities entering the United States workforce. It seems this forecast was largely on target although some changes in the profile of the workforce were unforeseen, including an increase in the number of workers with disabilities and growing religious diversity. Women constitute 48 percent of the United States workforce. By 2020, 32 percent of the US labour force is projected to be ethnic minorities, and four of every ten people entering the workforce from 1998 to 2008 will be members of minority groups. Hispanics are now the largest minority group in the United States, surpassing African Americans. Sisson (1994, pp. 123-131) urged organisations and decision-makers to identify ways to "manage" this growing diversity. Consequently, the field was initially practitioner-driven with scholarly attention lagging. Some would argue this accounts for the frequently lodged criticism that much of the literature on workforce diversity is atheoretical. However, in the last ten

Management in Creative and Cultural Organisations
Management in Creative and Cultural Organisations How important is team composition for innovation? Discuss your answer with reference to theory and examples from any creative or cultural organisation(s) Introduction: The essay presents about how the team composition is significant for the innovation. This is presented by using the theory and the examples from the creative and the cultural organisations. Team composition signifies the mix of the different character people in a team, or the one that has the unit of two or more individuals who could interact in an interdependent way so that they could achieve the common objective framed. The team composition could be homogenous (where all share the same characteristics) or heterogeneous (where each individual is different from the other) (Cohendet Simon, 2007). This is considered as the key factor which is influencing the performance outcome of the team. Though there are many, kind of the works which is related to the team work the current study focuses only on the significance of team composition in innovation which is related to the creative and the cultural organisation (Marotto Roos, 2007). Team composition in innovation (Discussion): The collaborative process is the ones that need some kind of the interaction and the coordination with the person in the group or with the team members. The collaborative pairs achieve more eminence in the creative domain. Collaboration is very popular in the educational environments where the students shall be working on different projects. These collaborative processes are involved in the creative and also the similar collaborative processes. Creativity is the process by which the new ideas or the process is created (Gilson, 2017). The creativity is considered more of the exploration process which includes the alternatives while the innovation could be categorised more as the exploitation process where one shall be trying to implement the data in an effective way. The creativity is focusing more on the alternatives exploration (Taylor Greve, 2006). Team creativity could be considered as the sum of the creative output of the individual group members. The group members shall be influencing the potential of their peers potential for being creative and this shall be affecting their cognitive and also the motivational processes (LevickaitÃâ-, 2011). The idea that is shared by the peer shall have potential for cognitively stimulating the other member in the group to be more creative. In order to hear the group member complaining on the potential one need to lower ones motivation for working hard on the task. Thus, the creativity of each of the individual in the group shall be influencing the others. At the same time the group members complain will have the effect on the others and this might lower their motivation to work hard (Marotto Roos, 2007). Thus the work of the one member in the group shall be affecting the other group members as well. The team work plays a remarkable role in the creative and also the innovative industrie s (Cohendet Simon, 2007). The videogame industry has a rapid growth and they have the major role in the emerging economy of the creative industries. They shall be producing more influential cultural icons and also the best selling products which represent a substantial portion in the entertainment industry. The products in the video game industry are captivating the entire generation. They are also fascinating the business world through the upsurge of the profitable markets (Cohendet Simon, 2007). As a cultural product, video game is considered as the complex mix of technology art and also the interactive way of the story telling. The technological part in the artefact need to disappear beyond the magic scenario, the smoothness of the controls and incorporates the realism of the simulation (Gilson, 2017). Thus these video gaming involves many activities like the development and integration of scenario, designing the interactivity, programming activities, music, integration, etc. The video games industry thus hires the innovators who belong to the different communities as the specialists (LevickaitÃâ-, 2011). They shall be into the work of the script writers, game designers and the graphic artists in the 2D and 3D and also the highly talented software programmers. This cultural product is the results of the team work of the individuals and this is not possible by the individual. The team work that incorporates diverse minds, intelligence and the creativity is essential for the combined goal to be achieved in the organisation. The team implemented this through the common tasks, creative discussion and also the interactions (Marotto Roos, 2007). The performance of the group has been traditionally put forward as the conceptualisation of the input process- output model. In such kind of the models the knowledge of the group members, their individual knowledge and also their skills, the composition of the team and the task objectives which is set with the support systems and the interactions that is made among the group members shall be explaining the performance of the group members (Taylor Greve, 2006). This mode is further developed so that this shall be stressing on the need of the context of the innovation from the perspective of the leadership teams. This shall also stress on the significance of the team composition and also the organisational support that is provided for the team output (Cohendet Simon, 2007). The peak performance in the group is very closely related t the Maslows (1968) notion of the peak experience. This shall be referring to the brief and also the transient moments of bliss, ecstasy with related to the time and the space (Marotto Roos, 2007). This is the natural phenomenon which is prompted by the large variety of the triggers. They are elaborated in the subsequent sections. These are the triggers that shall be including the moments of the inspiration of discovery, the unity that is assumed with the nature, exercise and movement, aesthetic perceptions more so in the performance of the fine arts (Cohendet Simon, 2007). The group level peak performance implies that the group is very much active in collectively executing the task. In these types of the cases the group level peak performance shall be transcending their ordinary level performance and experiences to the sense of communities and timelessness. Given the team work as well as the cooperation which has been emphasised it shall be useful for studying the timeless in the group level (Taylor Greve, 2006). The groups and also the team study shows that rather than being an individual they shall be working best on group with regards to efficiency in the productivity, their response time, quality, satisfaction of the customer and also the innovation. The groups shall be sharing the extremely tight bonds among their members and however this is not necessary that all in the group shall be having the personal affinity for one another. The personal feelings have the secondary option to the task that needs to be done (LevickaitÃâ-, 2011). The team creativity could originate with either the idea or the suggestion of the single individual and further they are developed, worked and elaborated by the team. In many of the teams the organisation is considered as the lead creator and this is where the ideas are considered as the seed for their projects and the teams shall subsequently develop (Cohendet Simon, 2007). Example: many of the Apple products are on the basis of the ideas that are generated by the individuals like Stephen Wozniak, Burrel Smith or Jony Ive as these are the ideas which are further developed and also worked on by the individuals. On the converse aspect the creativity could also generate from the collective aspects. The idea could emanate from the unit and the unit as the team could work for refining and also developing these ideas. Example: in the case of the string quartets the role played by the second violinist shall be critical for the creative ideas which is bring brought forward and further sele cted and the ways the conflicts are handled and the paradoxes are addressed so that the ultimate success with the quartet (Gilson, 2017). Though the creativity is considered as vital in almost all the jobs the definition of the creativeness could vary and this shall range from the minor (or incremental changes) adaptations or the changes in the work that is performed or this could move to the more radical breakthroughs with the introduction of the complete new process or the products. Though it is argued in many of the articles that the creativity and the innovation are different they are argued in the interchangeable manner in reviews (Taylor Greve, 2006). But for the teams who are in the creative industries to distinguish between the creativity and the innovation is salient as some of the process shall be stifling for the preparation while the generation of the other novella and the useful suggestions may not be similar with the ones that is hindering the implementation. If the team is engaged in the creativity then they need the members who shall be able to generate lots of ideas on the free wheel and they must hav e the ability to take risks (Cohendet Simon, 2007). On the other hand if the team is engaged in the aspect of the innovation then they must be inclined to more rational decision making and need to gauge the appropriateness in relative to the novelty for the minimising of the foolishness (Marotto Roos, 2007). This line of the demarcation gets further blurred when the team is working in the virtual world. These are the findings which suggest that since the communication shall be more often focused in the technology mediated teams and the generation of the idea could be interwoven on the basis of the development, refinement and also the evaluation and implementation (Cohendet Simon, 2007). To have the team members they shall be bringing up a completely new or the radically different kind of the suggestions and the stop for the process or the product which is flawed so that there are time to play with these ideas and the challenge for the status quo so that they shall be discussing these ideas which might be once considered as unrealistic get passed. The study by (LevickaitÃâ-, 2011) also stated that the number of the ideas which is created by the individuals is lesser compared with that of the group. For the teams who are working in the creative industries this gives an idea that often exposed the idea that is required for the cooperation which is essential for the success of the teams under certain kind of the conditions or even by the other pressures and the deadlines where they shall be able to focus their attention on the provided task. The main goal for the employees is in freely engaging in the process of the creation so that they are not driven by the budgets, production schedules or the bottom line. In the case of the creative industries these are the distinctions that happen always (Cohendet Simon, 2007). Example: in the Fashion houses they look for the developing of the testing the new looks and the styles (which is a radically creative outcome) for the catwalk through their couture lines and at the same time they shall be maintaining a ready to wear (i.e., an incrementally creative outcome) which has the mass appeal and the ones that which can be sold on the high stre et so that profit could be made in return on the funds through the cutting edge creations made (Marotto Roos, 2007). The tensions and also the paradoxes which have been discussed earlier have the designers who seek in the creation of the outfits which shall make the headlines than that of filling the cash registers. Conclusion: Team work is considered as the paramount here and it is argued that greater creative firms like the Georgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent which will not be a success had they did not have a successful teams. Team diversity however could be considered as the double edged sword as they are more likely to have a negative effect than the positive performance. Hence, Teams however contribute more for the innovation and the creativity compared with that of the individual performance. References: Cohendet, P. Simon, L., 2007. Dont Do Drugs
Hi I'm Alma and this my opinion on why you shouldn't use drugs. I believe that drugs ruin your body, mind , and life. Drugs affect your body in many different ways such as brain damage , heart problems, kidney failure, liver problems and the list goes on and on. First of all Drugs are against the law and until the law is changed, anything to do with growing, transporting and selling of drugs is illegal. So unless you want to spend some time behind bars i suggest you think twice before trying any drug. The most common drug that is used is marijuana. A lot of people say its not bad and that it helps with pain blah blah blah but when really marijuana can be the cause for people to go to stronger more addictive drugs such as heroine, cocaine, and crystal meth. These drugs are known for basically taking over peoples lives. All it takes is to try it once and then bam your hooked on it. They'll do anything just to get that high feeling they first got.Which means they have to use more and mor e of the drug each time just to get that high feeling once again. Drug addicts often think and act differently when using drugs. They will often steal from their family, and there's more of a chance that they'll abuse them physically and mentally. The hardest thing for drug users is trying to quit. People get withdrawals where they can become depressed , have anxiety, become restless and many other hard side affects to deal with. So why go through all that struggle when you can simply just say no?Another reason to stay away from drugs is because they can hold you back from getting your dream job or even a job period and from being able to be around family and friends. Many drug users tend to lose all their friends and family because they either don't trust them, they're a bad influence or they're violent. I for one wouldn't risk loosing my family or friends because of drugs its just not worth it and why worry about if their going to make you take a drug test to get that job you real ly want. When you can be worry free if your drug free and then you can get any job you want. The last reasons to stay away from drugs is that they can have irreversible damage not only to your body but to your mental health. Many people have been known to loose touch with reality and in most of those cases its hard for them to return to normal mental capacity. There are people who are often in denial that they have a drug problem that can ultimately lead to overdose and death. In my opinion you should stay away from all drugs, because of these three main reasons. The First one being Drugs are illegal and using them can lead to the lost of your freedom for many years. The second reason is There's a high probability of getting addicted and you can end up loosing everything and everyone you love. The final reason is that drugs can cause you to lose your sanity and eventually your life. This is why i chose not to use drugs because i don't want to risk loosing my loved ones and my life. Ho pefully this will convince you not to ever try drugs either.

Jason & Medea Essay
How do Jasonââ¬â¢s feelings at the end of the play differ from those revealed in other encounters? In their first encounter, Jason appears to be trying to make himself feel as if he is better than Medea, and as if he is the bigger person than she, mfou no doubt hate me: but I could never bear ill-will to youâ⬠implies that he is a better person for helping her even though she hates him ââ¬â and that even after all thatââ¬â¢s happened and all she has said he still ââ¬Å"could never bear ill-willâ⬠. He continues to try and defend his actions, claiming it was for social status, that he didnââ¬â¢t marry for love, but for the fact hat he wants to know they will have a good life and not be poor; also, as he marries the Kingââ¬â¢s daughter, his sons with Medea will be half-brothers to any children Jason may have with Glauce, therefore improving their status on becoming a king of Corinth. Their second encounter is after Medea has decided her exact plan; she knows how she will kill the princess and the king, and has then also planned to kill her sons. She asks for Jason to attend, and he does, at which point she acts like a stereotypical wife of the time, admitting that she was wrong for all the feelings she had, and that verything that had happened was her fault, that she overreacted because she knew Jason was only doing it for the good of their family. It would seem to be a friendly conversation on Jasonââ¬â¢s part, he shows no kind of hostility towards Medea when she speaks to him, and openly accepts her apology, and states when he first speaks to her that he is ââ¬Å"ready to listenâ⬠. However, later in this meeting he, again, demeens women, ââ¬Å"Only naturally a woman is angry when her husband marries a second wife. â⬠perhaps this is true in a sense, however I think anyone would be angry if their significant ther decided to marry someone else; not Just a woman. After this it could be said that Medea plays up to this, as when he mentions his sons growing up and being strong, she weeps. This may be because she knows her sons will never go, or she believes crying will make Jason pity her. In this encounter he also mentions sexual jealousy, implying that Medea is simply angry because of the fact that Jason is now sleeping with someone else, rather than her ââ¬â this is because he doesnââ¬â¢t understand her anger, and therefore infers that it is because of this, rather than the fact that he eft her to marry another. Later in this passage, he also refers to Medea as a ââ¬Å"foolish womanâ⬠when she tries to send the Coronet and dress to Glauce, and this theme of sexism is carried out a few lines later ââ¬Å"If my wife values me at all she will yield to me more than to costly presents, I am sure of thatâ⬠; again, the attitude of the ancient Greek time was that women were to do what they were told, rather than what they wanted. They were to be obedient, and not break any rules. In the third and final encounter, at the end of the play, it appears Jason has reached is peripeteia, his downfall. Medea, at this point, has killed their two sons ââ¬â and it is clear he loses complete control of his emotions, and he begins wildly insulting Medea, calling ner an ââ¬Å"abominationâ⬠. It is also earlier in this pa rt that ne calls ner ââ¬Å"the woman I will kill. â⬠at the beginning of the play, he was supposedly in love with her, whilst at the end, he wants nothing more than her to be dead. It becomes obvious that Jason has realised what Medea is truly like, how manipulative and cunning she is; and how she tricked him, in certain parts, at least, into believing she as Just an obedient wife to him. He claims he wants the gods to ââ¬Å"blast her lifeâ⬠, and during the time in which most, if not all, people believed that these gods were real and had impact on their lives, this would be one of the worst things to wish upon someone else. Again, Jason also mentions her ââ¬Å"sexual Jealousyââ¬â¢, blaming this for the murder of their children ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ out of mere sexual Jealousy, you murder them! â⬠At the complete end of the play, Jason is on the ground, whilst Medea is in a chariot (pulled by dragons) on the roof; this could be a representation of the fact that, in the eginning, Jason was of a higher standing than Medea, however at the end she had gotten (in a sense) what she wanted, and that she was now on top ââ¬â her enemies not able to laugh at her. He asks Medea to let him bury the children, a request which she declines, so he then asks if he could hold them one last time. She responds with ââ¬Å"now you have kisses for themâ⬠, as previously Jason had appeared to be more than happy to let his sons be exiled ââ¬â even if he did state in previous encounters that he had married the princess not for Just his social standing, but also his sons.
